The Grimsby Institute Magazine

I am going to be writing about the GX magazine. This magazine is for the students of The Grimsby Institute. The magazine has got a constant house style of four colours which are blue, grey and white. This is a complete contrast to the East Riding College Magazine. This is because it appeals to the target audience of 16 years and above. The colour scheme brings out a fresh, new and a good sense of hype to the people who look at it. The colour scheme also represents youth which is fun and exciting.
The masthead is big and bold which automatically lets the audience know who it is by and what the title of it is called. They have followed the house style so then everything looks in place and tidy. It is at the top this will make everyone look towards that corner.
The magazine cover looks professional and high quality standard this could be because they have a higher budget for this magazine to be produced. The front cover is eye-catching because of the colour that have been used this automatically makes people turn heads to want them to read what I inside of the magazine. The text is clear to read as the colours do not clash go well together.
The main image on the front cover of the Grimsby magazine is of a male and female student like models animated but cleverly done so they are also within the colour theme. They have not used a medium close up shot but this is still more enticing than the East Riding magazine. As the reason for this is that the images are more attention grabbing and suit the target audience.
Like the East Riding magazine this does not have a barcode on the front cover. They have even forgotten to write down the price so this would not be suitable as the person who will want to purchase the item will not be able to do so.
Ideology for the magazine cover. The images bring out the fun and exciting side of college as this is the meaning of college. This could represent parties and events run by college. They have also used slang such as “the word on the street” this is stereotypical as they believe all the younger generation use this form of speech.
Representation of the college is mixed they use slang which could mean that they are not very education and can make them seem lazy. They also use things such as “booze” and “drugs”. These are stereotypical things which society link with the youth of the ages of 16. This could be misunderstood so people have to read the inside before understanding what it means. This is a common tactic that a lot of people in the media use now-a-days. But this is something they should not use for a college magazine.
